The Association des Veuves du Genocide d’Avril (AVEGA) is a nonprofit organization founded by fifty widows who are survivors of the Rwandan genocide against the Tutsi. In 1994, in the course of just three months, about one million people were killed. “Agahozo”, the Rwandan name of AVEGA, is a soothing poem you sing to dry someone’s tears. The Environmental Protection and Encouragement Agency (EPEA) Internationale Umweltforschung GmbH in Hamburg was founded by Professor Dr. Michael Braungart in 1987. The Cradle to Cradle methodology is the guiding principle of EPEA’s work. The Vienna based NGO ZARA – Zivilcourage und Anti-Rassismus-Arbeit was founded in 1999 and is dedicated to extensive anti-racism work. It was the first organisation in Austria to support victims of racist discrimination. Its mandate comprises counselling victims and witnesses of racism, monitoring and awareness raising.
