The SAVE THE WORLD AWARDS 2009 at the Zwentendorf Nuclear Power Plant in Lower Austria was filled with many moving moments, emotional highlights and important messages with the motto “Heal The World”. The first global honors presented to exceptional individuals and organizations working toward a peaceful, sustainable and livable future was hosted by Hollywood star and fashion icon, Andie MacDowell. 2,500 guests at the grand event, and millions of people around the world followed a pioneering TV gala dealing with important issues accompanied by numerous music and show highlights. Two multi-media stages, six monumental screens and LED walls as well as a nuclear power plant as a backdrop: The TV special of the 2009 SAVE THE WORLD AWARDS will be a pioneering television show, never been created before. Zwentendorf in Austria is the only nuclear power plant in the world actually completed but mothballed before it was ever put into operation. In 1978 the Austrian people, in a nationwide referendum, decided against employing nuclear power in their country. Today, Zwentendorf serves as a unique memorial as well as a symbol that the peoples will should always be above any political interests. LEGENDARY MUSICIAN. The WORLD AWARDS Association is pleased to announce that Ray Chew, the musical director of the BET Awards, Grammy Awards and the Apollo Theater where the Jackson Five and Michael Jackson made their first appearances, will serve as new musical director of the WORLD AWARDS. Ray Chew has worked with many of the best in the music business including Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, Dionne Warwick, Chaka Khan, Aretha Franklin, Sting, Rihanna, Alicia Keys and Quincy Jones. He will perform live at the 2009 SAVE THE WORLD AWARDS with his legendary band, some of the best musicians in the U.S. more

The SUSTAINABILITY WORLD CONGRESS “Defining Our Future: Visions for a Sustainable World” with leading experts, scientists, government officials, NGOs and Nobel Prize Laureates will be held in conjunction with the SAVE THE WORLD AWARDS on July 23 and 24, 2009 at Grafenegg Castle in Lower Austria. Environmental impact.
Can such a monumental event like the SAVE THE WORLD AWARDS be eco-friendly? To a certain extent: yes. Each event has its own environmental impact – from energy consumption to waste disposal. Each element of the SAVE THE WORLD AWARDS production will be reviewed and concepts developed to make it environmentally-friendly in order to decrease the carbon footprint of the event. Together with Austria's first green agency, Prima Vista, which developed a master plan for sustainable events in order to minimize their ecological impact, World Awards Media strives to establish new standards for environmentally friendly events of such dimension. more
